An unfounded report pertaining to stoppage of shipping and dispatch of cargo was aired on various channels as well as filed by media on 16th January, 2019 which has necessitated clarification from KPT to reflect ground reality and factual position for public awareness. It is clarified that shipping activity to and from the Port is normal. As a procedure, the dispatch of cargo from Port on trucks is being scrutinized/checked to comply Axel Load Regime instructions of Motorway Police and National Highways Safety Ordinance (NHSO-2000). In this regard, trucks/trailers having excessive load are being asked to comply the aforesaid regime at KPT weighbridge prior leaving the Port. On the parallel, Truck Associations were also asked to comply the axel load regime during loading of cargo to ensure road safety in order to obviate road damages. Members of Trucks Associations were informed during a meeting at KPT Head Office on 13th January 2019 besides follow ups through letters regarding adherence to the said axel regime.
