ARFA KARIM DAY CELEBRATED BY KPT IN GREAT FERVOUR HARBOUR CRUISE FOR STUDENTS INAUGURATED BY ARFA KARIM’S MOTHER

In pursuance to the second death anniversary of the youngest Microsoft expert and the Pakistani Icon Ms Arfa Karim, the KPT has organized harbour cruise for students along with Ms Samina Amjad – mother of Ms Arfa Karim, KPT management officials and media. Speaking on the occasion, Ms Samina Amjad highlighted on the goals set forth by the Arfa Karim Foundation. She said that her daughter Arfa Karim wanted to bring revolution in the field of education using ICT as tool, for imparting quality education to the under privileged students particularly in rural areas of Pakistan. This, she said was even shared by her daughter in international and national media interactions as her daughter has always dreamt big in her short life.  She further said that Arfa Karim Foundation is striving hard to preserve her complete legacy and moving forward to persue her dreams and with this intention the 2nd Anniversary is celebrated to pay tribute to the “Daughter of the Nation” by lighting candles and organizing various activities to commence between 14th January and 2nd February 2014. As you are all aware of that Arfa Karim breadth her last on 14th January and her birthday were celebrated on 2nd February while her daughter was alive, she added.

 

Ms Samina Amjad appreciated the efforts of Karachi Port Trust management for coming forward with this harbour cruise on a passenger ferry boat which was named after her daughter which they have nicely decorated for this particular occasion. She said that it is an honour for her take boat ride in passenger ferry boat “FB-ARFA KARIM” today in the presence of media on whom her Foundation also depends for lifting up the cause of education for the under privileged class of the rural areas.

 

Later, the students also shared their aim and vision towards acquiring latest technology and some even shared to become computer experts like late Arfa Karim during the harbour cruise. One of the student in a very confident mood said that she want to become software specialist and would want to create software for export to other nations of the world which in turn will boost the exports of Pakistan as well and make the nation economically strong. The students showed lot of excitement to have the company of a great mother of nation’s daughter and thanked the KPT management for providing them an occasion to share their feelings towards the great daughter of Pakistan which concluded the proceedings.
