KPT Sprays Chlorine Disinfectant Liquid as Corona Grips Entire City

Under the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chairman KPT Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar ordered to spray chlorine disinfectant inside the port area as well on roads and linkages connected with Karachi Port on 28th March 2020. This CSR initiative received welcome nod from political circles and the Port was approached by elected members of parliament to spray in their respective electoral areas and towns in metropolis Karachi. Karachi Port Trust provided two fire tenders each time it went to spray disinfectant in lockdown localities in morning and evening shifts. Marine Pollution Control and Port Fire Office departments jointly conducted the spray operations under the command of General Manager Operations Rear Admiral Zaka Ur Rehman HI(M), while following the directives of Chairman KPT Rear Admiral (R) Jamil Akhtar HI(M) T.Bt, on daily basis without any break. The port has so far sprayed disinfectant in Keamari, Lyari, Jubly Market, Ranchhor Line, Old Haji Camp, Hijrat Colony, Sultanabad, Bath Island, Clifton, etc by the end of March. Though the quarter is over but spray activities continues even in April and KPT has covered most of city localities during these spray activities. Even in far of places like North Karachi, Gulshan e Iqbal, Gulistan e Jauhar, etc are covered during the spray activity taken place in the month of April 2020. It is added that the spray will continue till the city comes out of pandemic Covid-19 and normalcy resumes in the port city.
