KPT Invites Bids for Capital Dredging

Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has invited sealed bids on 20th May 2020 for capital dredging works at South Wharf Triangle Area to 16 meters which also includes the dredging of berthing basin of four berths located in the area to 16.5 meters and lower harbour/channel to 14 meters depths. The bids are invited from highly experienced dredging firms/companies with proven technical and financial capabilities for executing dredging of three million cubic meters through deployment of equipment and allied machinery such as Cutter Suction Dredger, Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger, Hopper Barges and associated dredging plants (if required) for dredging all kind of strata / soil and having capability to dredge up to 25 meters depths with discharging of resultant dredge materials to designated dumping site at sea. Once the task is assigned through award of tender to successful bidder, the completion of capital dredging work is anticipated to be 175 days. Single Stage-Two Envelopes bidding procedure is being adopted under rule 36(b) of Pakistan Public Procurement Rules – 2004 (PPRA-2004). Bidders will submit Technical and Financial envelopes in KPT. Initially, the Technical Proposal envelopes be opened for technical evaluation. Later, the opening of Financial Proposal envelopes be communicated to only technically qualified firms / companies and thereafter be accordingly opened. Bidders are required to submit Bid Security worth Rs 40 million (or US $ 250,000) as Earnest Money with their Technical Proposal in shape of pay order. Pre-bid meeting has taken place in this regard on 8th June which opens on 1st July 2020.
